The Program That Changed 5,832 Lives
One of the most rewarding things Hope is Alive’s School Support team has heard is, “When are you coming back?”
From lunch hangouts to school assemblies, students across Oklahoma look forward to visits from the Hope is Alive team. When staff share their own stories of struggle and recovery, students see people who understand what they're facing and who genuinely care.
Throughout the 2025–2026 school year, this led to students opening up about challenges at home, struggles with mental health, and questions they didn't feel comfortable asking anywhere else.

Evaluation data consistently reflected the impact staff witnessed firsthand. Students left with a greater understanding that addiction can affect anyone, regardless of background, and a deeper awareness of the factors that contribute to substance use and mental health challenges.
As they explored topics like trauma, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), neuroscience, and the biological effects of addiction, many began to see these struggles with understanding rather than judgment.
The conversations also equipped students with practical tools for navigating difficult situations. Many students reported feeling more prepared to resist peer pressure, establish healthy boundaries, and seek help when needed.

Students want spaces where they can ask questions, talk openly, and learn from people who have lived experience. Through Hope is Alive's School Support Program, schools are creating those opportunities every day.
