Healing is Possible: The Story of Lisa McCaskey

Five years ago, I walked into Finding Hope carrying hurt, confusion, fear, and a mind filled with negative voices telling me I would never heal. I’m not going to sugarcoat it: The journey has not been easy.

There were days filled with anxiety, tears, doubt, setbacks, and moments where I wondered if I would ever truly feel whole again. But through every difficult season, Finding Hope became exactly what its name says — a place where I found hope.

Over these past five years, I have been surrounded by love, encouragement, understanding, and support from some truly incredible people. The friendships I’ve made here have meant more to me than words can fully express. So many of you listened without judgment, prayed with me, cried with me, encouraged me, and reminded me that I was not alone. Sometimes you believed in me when I struggled to believe in myself.

Little by little, healing began to happen.

I’ve learned that healing is not always quick or perfect. It’s messy sometimes. It comes one step, one prayer, one honest conversation, and one day at a time. But I also learned something else: the negative voices in my head were not going to win.

Today, I feel led to give back some of the same hope that was given to me. That is why I have begun leading groups in Sapulpa and Sand Springs, and why I’m starting a devotional series. It starts with The Power of Mindfulness: A 90-Day Devotional for Healing, Faith, and Renewal, inspired by my personal journaling journey. Writing became part of my healing process, and my prayer is that these devotionals will encourage others who may be struggling with anxiety, trauma, brokenness, fear, or betrayal, or who are simply trying to find hope again.

If my story can help even one person keep going, then every difficult step has had purpose.

To everyone at Finding Hope — thank you. Thank you for your kindness, your prayers, your patience, your support, and your love throughout this journey. You have made a difference in my life, and I will forever be grateful.

Healing is possible. Hope is real. And no matter how hard life becomes, keep going — God is still working.
